Feature: Technician time clock

Clock in on the job.

Short answer: MetaFleet technicians clock in for the shift and start a work clock on each job from their phone, with drive time logged as en route and job time as on site. A dispatcher or manager can clock a technician in or out on their behalf, shifts can close automatically at the end of the scheduled shift or after idle time, a job with nobody clocked in shows a paused flag, and entries that look wrong are flagged for an admin to correct or void. Clocked hours feed the technician hours and clocked hours reports.

How it works

Step by step.

  1. Clock in for the shift. From the phone, or by a dispatcher on their behalf.
  2. Time each job. En route and on site clocks tied to the service order.
  3. Catch gaps. Paused flags, auto clock-out and flagged entries.
  4. Report hours. Logged versus invoiced hours by technician.

Questions

Does it track shifts as well as jobs?

Shift scheduling is a separate feature with recurring schedules, time off and overtime; dispatch offers jobs only to technicians on shift.

Can I use it for payroll?

Technician hours are reported; payroll itself runs in your payroll system.
